There are generally 2 Group trips planned each year : 1. April/May 2. October/ November
1) In May 2017, 2 teams of people from Australia ( about 12 people each week) worked tirelessly on a number of projects at New Life. It was a hugely rewarding experience for all involved.
First there were several capable men who worked hard building a large roof over the area at the back of the girls dorm for the girls bathing and clothes washing area and laying a concrete pathways at the Orphanage. (a great blessing especially in the wet season).
The rest of the team spent intensive time teaching the children various skills from sewing, craft, cooking, music to science and mathematics. A fun week for the children along with games and dance. This is such a wonderful time for the children as they have a real holiday away from the normal demands of school and chores.
2) In November this year a group of 15 graduating students from Genesis College Bray Park, will be spending a number of days working with the staff and some of the children at New Life Orphanage. This is a brilliant alternative to a typical schoolies celebration.
The young people will be doing painting and maintenance projects as well as working alongside the pre-schoolers and those children not at school. It is also hoped that some of the girls will teach dance to some of the girls in the afternoon. Some teachers and parents will be assisting on this trip.
We also are prepared to share the work with potential supporters by arranging short term trips ( usually 3 to 4 days ), so that the interested party/ies can visit the NL sites and witness first hand the work being carried out in this country.
